Asclepias tuberosa (butterfly weed) prefers light watering and well draining soil. Asclepias incarnata (swampy milkweed) prefers medium to heavy watering and will happily grow in ditches or other wet areas. Asclepias syriaca (common milkweed) prefers light watering and sandy soil. Plant all in sun to part shade (8-3hrs).
