BitterSweet, American "Autumn Revolution"
Celastrus scandens 'Bailumn'
A vigorous vine that grows well on a trellis or fence, producing bright red/orange berries in the fall. Dark green leaves.

Do not ingest any part of this plant - it has low-grade toxicity for humans, dogs, cats and horses (but edible for birds)
The Autumn Revolution cultivar does not need separate male and female plants to bear fruit - other American Bittersweet varieties usually do.

Grape "Big Blue"
Vitis x 'Big Blue'
Fruit size is similar to the Concord grape and has excellent flavour. A great choice for fresh eating or juicing. A hardy plant.

Grape, "Frontenac"
Vitis x 'Frontenac'
This semi-hardy grape was produced by the University of Minnesota, and are excellent for juice or wine, and can be eaten fresh as well. The juice has less pulp than other hardy grape varieties; make sure to leave the grapes on the vine as long as possible - they taste sweeter after a frost.

Grape, Native
Vitis riparia
A vigorous grower, 4 - 6' of growth a year once established. The vine holds large dark green leaves and small very sour grapes. Grapes are edible after frost, but are best for the birds. This vine grows as a native on the riverbanks of southern Manitoba. Has a life span of 40 - 60 years.

This climbing vine has a long blooming season; red to orange trumpet-like flowers last from mid-summer to late fall. This is followed by small berries for the birds.

Parthenocissus quinquefolia 'Engelmannii'
A fast-growing vine that will naturally cling to brick, stucco, or fences. Growth rate of 5 - 8' per a year once established. Leaves are dark green and have five narrow leaflets growing off the main stem which turn bright red in the fall. Produces some small insignificant black fruit in the fall. This vine has a life span of 40 - 60 years.

Ivy, Virginia Creeper
Parthenocissus quinquefolia
Virginia Creeper is the hardiest native vine that turns a brilliant red in autumn - excellent for covering fences and walls. It bears a few small black berries in the fall, good for attracting birds. It is fast-growing: 5' - 8' per year once it is established, and its life span is 40 - 60 years.
