Ash, "Mancana" (aka "Manchurian")
Fraxinus mandshurica 'Mancana'
This tree holds a dense globe shape with long, bright green, feathery leaves. Leaves have a tropical appearance and are slightly pendulous, and the fall colour is a brilliant yellow. Mancana is quite popular because of its uniformity, and it is also seedless - no mess! Growth rate of 1.5-2’ per year with a life expectancy of 80 years.

Ash, "Nobility"
Fraxinus americana 'Jefwis'
Nobility is a hardy white ash variety with excellent purple fall colour. It is also seedless, and is the fastest growing ash. Life expectancy of Ash trees is 80 years.

Ash, "Northern Treasure"
Fraxinus x 'Northern Treasure'
Holding a beautifully balanced, upright oval shape, this ash has bright green leaves from May until fall when the colour will change to a golden yellow. It only occasionally produces small amounts of seed. It is a cross between the symmetrical Manchurian Ash and the extremely hardy native Black Ash, and has become one of our most-recommended shade trees.

Fraxinus pennsylvanica
A very popular tree for street, shelterbelt and shade plantings because they are extremely cold hardy and tolerates a range of soils. Leaves are a vibrant green during the spring and summer and turn bright yellow in the fall. Life expectancy of Ash trees is 80 years with a growth rate of 1.5-2’ per year.

Birch, "Royal Frost"
Betula x 'Royal Frost'
Royal Frost has white bark like a paper birch, along with beautifully contrasting purple leaves. The leaves open to a bright purple in spring and then darken through the summer and fall. Branches form an oval shape. It needs care and wind protection to thrive.

Birch, Cutleaf Weeping
Betula pendula 'Dalecarlica'
The cutleaf weeping birch can be a very impressive landscape focal point if provided with even moisture. Its chalk white bark contrasts nicely with the rich green cascading foliage that turns golden in October. It's fast-growing, ~24" per year and moderately hardy.

•Prefers a wind-sheltered location with even moisture; if it dries out for too long, birch borer will kill the tree, so supplemental moisture during a drought is necessary
•Mulch with 3"-4" of bark in a large circle around the tree to aid in moisture retention; even established trees will need watering after 2 weeks of drought

Betula papyrifera
The peeling white bark contrasts nicely with their green leaves, which turn yellow in the fall. Branches hold a pyramidal to oval formation. Two - three trees are grown together to form a clump of trees, giving a fuller appearance. Butterflies gather around paper birches to eat the bark (non-harmful to the tree).

Buckeye, "Autumn Splendor"
Aescelus x 'Autumn Splendor'
This buckeye is a favourite for its consistent orange / red fall colour. An ornamental chestnut tree that leafs out early in May, blooms cream green flowers, and bears inedible nut in prickly husk which the squirrels love to eat. The unique leaves grow out in star pattern of 5 to 7 leaflets. Buckeyes are slow growers, about 1' a year.

Buckeye, "Ohio"
Aescelus glabra
The Ohio Buckeye is an ornamental chestnut tree that leafs out early in May, blooms cream green flowers, and bears inedible nuts in prickly husks. These nuts are a favourite with squirrels, and when shelled, they are very decorative. The leaves grow out in star pattern of 5 to 7 leaflets, and turn gold, orange, or red in the fall.
