Aescelus x 'Autumn Splendor'
This buckeye is a favourite for its consistent orange / red fall colour. An ornamental chestnut tree that leafs out early in May, blooms cream green flowers, and bears inedible nut in prickly husk which the squirrels love to eat. The unique leaves grow out in star pattern of 5 to 7 leaflets. Buckeyes are slow growers, about 1' a year.

Aescelus glabra
The Ohio Buckeye is an ornamental chestnut tree that leafs out early in May, blooms cream green flowers, and bears inedible nuts in prickly husks. These nuts are a favourite with squirrels, and when shelled, they are very decorative. The leaves grow out in star pattern of 5 to 7 leaflets, and turn gold, orange, or red in the fall.

Prunus maackii 'Jefspur'
Attractive golden-bronze bark contrasts with masses of white flowers in spring and black fruit in summer makes this an eye-catching tree for all seasons. Very hardy and fast growing, with a nice full rounded shape with bright green leaves. As the tree gets older the bark will begin to peel off as new bark grows, giving the trunk a unique textured look.

Prunus maackii 'Ming'
A beautifully uniform and moderately fast-growing tree; the small white flowers are borne in clusters all over the tree in May. The leaves are a nice dark green and the bark is a rich glossy burgundy. It produces some very small black fruits but they never hit the ground as the birds eat them quickly. Cold tolerant - it was discovered growing in Saskatoon.

A Dutch nurseryman discovered this impressive flowering crab in his Alberta tree farm; reaching nearly 40'x30', you can only imagine how beautiful it is when it is covered in pink flowers at the end of May! The small, dark purple fruit persists on the tree into the winter when the birds need it to survive - so there are no messy piles of apples on the ground in fall.
