Excellent hedge or windbreak, with a high heat and drought resistance. Small yellow flowers in spring lead to small bean shaped seed pods that are dropped in late August. With a yellow fall color and a 40 - 50 year life span, this shrub is a good choice.

This forsythia has very showy blooms in early spring - forsythias are the first plants to bloom; the branches are covered with small, bright yellow, bell-shaped flowers. We have started long-term winter hardiness testing, and so far it has done well in a sheltered spot with good snow cover; above the snow line it may tip freeze in a bad winter or exposed location.

Deep pink flowers early June turn into bright and showy red fruit from midsummer through the fall. This plant is insect resistant and has a growth rate of 1-2’ per year. Use like a large lilac shrub; it makes an excellent back drop plant.
